YEF Alumni
YEF has assisted senior secondary students from peasant families since 2010. Every student receives financial aid for three years, and an additional year’s assistance for those who successfully gained entry to university. Every year, there are students entering university, which makes us feel very proud. Up to 2016-17, we have offered more than 1,900 bursaries to senior secondary students from peasant families. Only with support from kind philanthropists had we been able to achieve this.
On leaving school, these students left home to different cities to pursue their studies. Many of them have started a career after graduation from university. YEF continues to stay in touch with them through chat groups. We even meet them to see how they are doing when the opportunity arises.
We arrived in Lanzhou on 14 April 2017. Pang Hui, a fourth-year student at the Medical School of Lanzhou University, came to see us upon learning that we were staying there overnight. Pang received YEF assistance from 2010 to 2013.
On 30 April, we were on transit at Shanghai. Another student who received YEF assistance in 2010-2013, Zhao Taotao, took an hour-long ride to see us at the airport. Zhao was a fourth-year civil engineering student at Tongji University.
