Primary Schools in need of reconstruction

We inspected Liu Pai Ping Primary School in Yaxiaji Town of Lintao County and Songshu Primary School at Qingping Township of Weiyuan County. Both schools have to be rebuilt because they are in a dilapidated condition and do not meet earthquake resistance standards required by government policy. There are very few pupils in the schools as many young people have gone to work in cities, taking their children with them. Those who cannot go to study in cities are left behind. Situated at 2,200 metres above sea level, Songshu Primary School has only 30 odd pupils. Because of the remote location, the children are unable to go to schools in other villages. So the school goes on with very limited resources because pupils are few, and is given very low priority in reconstruction. Financial aid for reconstruction will greatly improve the learning environment of the children.
