Inspecting the red-flesh walnut project
On June 7, we went to Nanpo Village, Manchuanguan Town, Shanyang County, Shangluo City to inspect the red flesh walnut project we funded. The project is led by Professor Peng Shaobin of Northwest Agricultural and Forestry University and is a collaboration with the local forestry bureau. He introduced a new variety of red flesh walnuts. The new variety with red inner membrane contains rich anthocyanins and is priced over ten times that of the normal walnuts. We funded saplings of the new variety and gave them to farmers to improve their income.
