Interviews for University Bursaries applicants
The COVID-19 virus has been raging this year. The whole world is affected by the pandemic.
Yellow Earth Foundation is therefore unable to visit the Mainland. Yet the work of aiding high school students and undergraduates has never stopped.
The University Entrance Examination on the Mainland was postponed by a month this year because of the pandemic. The subsequent university admissions process and the start of school were also delayed considerably.
On August 21, the Yellow Earth Foundation held video meetings with students to assess their applications for subsidies in university education.

Writing Letters to Students
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, schools were suspended for several months, seriously delaying the processing of applications for the YEF secondary school bursaries. This led to successful applicants not being assigned to specific sponsors, and we have not been able to visit them.
According to the scholarship requirements, sponsored students are required to write to their sponsors at least once a year. In October, after the 2020 school year began, students wrote letters of thanks to us. Quite a number of them mentioned that apart from rendering them monetary assistance, the YEF scholarships have given them mental support. We felt that although these students do not have specific sponsors, we should reply to them to show encouragement. This can also let our friends who are concerned about education for peasant children to share the joy of communicating with them. Response was unexpectedly overwhelming; all 100 letters were claimed within one day! How thankful.
The students are all children from remote villages and have never seen the outside world. We hope that this kind of communication will bring them warmth and open up their horizons.

Letter of Appreciation from the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese in Gansu Province
This is a letter from the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese in Gansu Province. The letter informed us that all poverty-stricken counties in Gansu Province have been lifted out of poverty in 2020. The Federation thanked Yellow Earth Foundation for having joined hands with them in their poverty alleviation work as a “Contibuting Organisation towards Poverty Alleviation”.
It is gratifying to know that Gansu has got rid of poverty in all counties. This represents the beginning of a new era. With the blink of the eye, Yellow Earth Foundatiuon has been working in Gansu for ten years. Our goal is to improve the livelihoods of farmers. Although what we did might be trivial, our belief is to do good as much as we can. However small step we can take, each step is one step closer to a better future. This letter from the Gansu Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese is an affirmation of our work.
The Gansu Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese have been working with us harmoniously for a long time. We hope that this relationship will continue and together we will work hard to build a better future for farmers!
